Looking for Pizza Gift Ideas? You've Found Them Here!
Of course you love pizza -- so do we. And someone (probably everyone) you know loves pizza too. If you're looking for the perfect gift to give the pizza lover in your life, chances are you'll find it here.
Our primary criterion for choosing the items you'll see in this section was, did we want it? or would someone we know like it? We'll let you know when something is a particular favorite pizza gift idea of ours, too.
The Shirt That Says It All
We couldn't find a really great pizza shirt so we designed one. A pizza shirt that expressed what we really think about pizza, one that carries the message, that other pizza lovers can wear proudly. A pizza shirt so grand that Cary even tries not to get sauce on it.
The logo is so right, we put it on a few different items: an apron, a jersey, etc. It carries a profound pizza message no one can argue with!
There are four books that every pizza lover absolutely must have. Each of these pizza gift ideas covers a different facet of pizza passion:
Pizza: A Slice of Heaven: The Ultimate Pizza Guide and Companion Ed Levine's classic guide to pizza. Pizza stories, adventures, history, and reviews. Levine is one of the pizza-eatingest guys in America, and he writes about it with true pizza passion. If your gift-recipient loves pizza, or even likes pizza, this is the book!
American Pie: My Search for the Perfect PizzaWe don't get tired of praising this book. Peter Reinhart is an artisan bread master, a genuine pizza aficionado, and maker of some of the best pizza dough we've ever tasted. And his recipes (in this book) have led to the best pizza dough we've ever made. Peter's ongoing pizza hunt, along with a collection of amazing pizza recipes make American Pie a must-own for pizza lovers.
Pizza: A Global History (RB-Edible)Helstosky's book gets a little pedantic at times (like a good term paper), but this book's view of pizza from Naples to Nagasaki, from ancient times to this morning, is a largely entertaining read with great pictures. This book will be a delight to just about any pizza fan.
The Real Man's Pizza Cutter!
Actually, Cary wants one of these this year. Growing up Jewish in Brooklyn, power tools were not part of his upbringing, and yet he has that craving for a power saw that's hard-wired into the masculine psyche. The Pizza Boss 3000 is the answer! And the Pizza Lovin' Man in your life will dig this cutter too!
We found the Guidogear.com site almost by accident. Most of their products were not to our taste (they tend to propagate particular stereotypes), but their Pizza Christmas Holiday Ornament has a certain charm. If you find it charming too, Guidogear wants you to know that it measures approx. 3.5" and is made from imported European blown glass.
The All-Clad Pizza Stone!
We admit it's not cheap, and your favorite pizzaiolo or pizzaiola doesn't actually need an All-Clad Pizza Baker Stone, but it's a beautiful thing, and your pizza (or bread) baker will be delighted with it. Our daughters gave us this 13-inch natural soapstone pizza stone last year, and we love using it - it heats up well and evenly and stays hot for hours. The All-Clad stone comes with a stainless-steel ring and and All-Clad pizza cutter (in case you didn't buy the Pizza Boss 3000!)
And right now, MetroKitchen has the All-Clad Pizza Baker Stone for $20 off with free shipping! One of our favorite pizza gift ideas!
Give The Gift Of Pizza!
If your giftee is a displaced Chicagoan, this may be the gift for them! The Pizza of the Month Club offers three different Chicago-style pizzas each month, a monthly newsletter, and $25 off of every 12-month membership.
Full-disclosure caveat: We have not tried the Pizza-Of-The-Month Club. The reviews have been good, and we think the idea is great. The club claims that "Each is an authentic gourmet pizza, handmade for you by a noted Chicago pizza chef with a creative soul," but we cannot vouch for the quality of their pizza at this time.
Sesame Street and Pizza!
We know, almost everyone who wants one of these little guys already has one. Almost. Surely you know someone who needs a pizza-making Elmo and a singing pizza?
